The Wiltshire Good Neighbour scheme is a community based initiative that aims to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged, vulnerable, elderly or infirm people by helping them to live independently for longer.
This Scheme - similar in concept, organisation and implementation terms to schemes currently running in Essex and Gloucestershire - is intended to provide a structured good neighbour service delivered by volunteer local people with an in-depth knowledge of the local community and the services which are on offer locally.
The Good Neighbour scheme predicates on having a strong voluntary sector in place across both rural and semi-rural areas and the Wiltshire scheme, in particular, proposes having 25 Co-ordinators in place this year.
